I have been waiting for a long time. At some point years ago, tired of waiting, I seriously considered designing my own collection of rashguards. When I mentioned this to friends, everyone said “Please!” Those who of us love playing all day in oceans, lakes and rivers must wear something to protect our skin. We wanted great colors and patterns, necklines and sleeves, some shirring, asymmetry maybe… something comfortable yet with a bit of style.
Already busy with kids and work and life, my drawings sat in a sketchbook. The contact I made at Factory #28 encouraged me to visit; I put him off. I continued to buy drab, uncomfortable things for myself while shopping swim shirts for my boys at Quicksilver. “One of these days” I told myself, “this and other companies will explode with a line of great rashguards for women.” It had to happen.
It took a long time. But…finally: better rashguards have arrived! Here are a few that I picked up for this summer:
Palomar Crop Top by Seea ($65.00)
Liberty Rashguard by J. Crew ($175.00)
Confetti Rashguard by Free People ($158.00)
